Stage
2 (Evidence) Assessment
Plan: Daily
written work- writing reflections and poems. The
reflections will be checked on a daily basis for completion and
understanding. If individuals
seem to be struggling, we will have individual conferences/reviews.
If the entire or the majority of the class seem to be struggling,
we will spend extra class time reviewing the information. Daily
class discussion- involves identifying
literary devices, sharing reflections and personal poems. Through
teacher observation I will be able to determine if the class, as a whole,
understands the information given. These
discussions will determine the pace.
I will also be able to identify the students who are
participating, and through individual conferences I can learn the reasons.
Test- will cover the entire unit.
Will be multiple choice, short answer, and essay. Will
determine if the students have retained and understood the information
covered in this unit. Reflective Essay- Students will pick from a list of 3 poems we have not read in class and write a 4-paragraph essay on their reflection (1st introduction, 2nd literary devices used and how they impact the reader, 3rd meaning, must describe why or how they come to this meaning, 4th conclusion). Multiple choice- will cover the definitions of the literary terms and types of poems practiced in class. Short answer will cover the identification of the literary devices within poems. I will choose from poems already used and not used. Poetry
Scrapbook (Unit project)- will display the work completed in class
(reflections and identification) and the
skills learned (student composed poems).
