Unit of Study
The Wonderful World of Poetry
Grade Level: 9th and 10th
Designed for
my 9th grade English class.
I believe it is too introductory for grades 11 and 12.
Introduction
This unit will introduce students to poetry. They will learn the basic literary devices used in poetry and experiment with some “fun” forms of poetry. The intention is to help students become more familiar and comfortable with reading and writing poetry. The hope is that, through this unit, they will be able to tackle more difficult poetry concepts in future English classes.
